Group Home Ministry
Norma Waldbauer, one of Chamberlayne's faithful members, expressed to her peers and fellow
Virginia Baptists the need for a ministry to people with special needs
in the 1970's. In 1984, Mrs. Waldbauer established a "Special Friends"
Sunday School Class for adult men and women with special needs. By the
early 1990's, she encouraged CBC to consider a deeper level of
commitment by entering into a group home ministry for adults. A study
and research committee formed and in 1995 proposed that the church
begin a group home ministry for adults with special needs.
Chamberlayne continues to support both the Norma S. Waldbauer Home and the "Friends" Sunday School Class.
